Michael J. Kostka, 62 of Kewaunee, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2021. He was born to Virginia and the late Robert Kostka. He was a career Machinist working at Kewaunee Engineering and C.A. Lawton. He married Susan and together they raised three daughters. Mike had a lifelong interest in hunting and enjoyed spending many weekends Up North. He was a longtime member of the Kewaunee Hunting and Fishing Club. In retirement, he utilized his passion for history, especially Great Lakes Shipping and Shipwrecks, by enthusiastically volunteering at the Kewaunee County Historical Society, serving as Great Lakes Historian. Mike was honored to be named Kewaunee County Historical Society Volunteer of the Year in 2018 and the Curator of the Kewaunee County Jail Museum.
Mike was preceded in death by his faithful hunting companion Cookie, father Robert, sister Jane, father-in-law Joseph and mother-in-law Mary Ellen, brother-in-law Gale and sister-in-law Ann.
Mike is survived by his wife Susan, his 3 daughters: Pamela (Joel) Campbell, Nicole (Brad) Kussman and Michelle (Noah) Haban and his grandchildren: Angelica (special friend Tyler), Austin, (LCpl USMC), Carly, Connor Ashlynn, Rhett, Filomena and Edison, his mother Virginia and brother Chuck. He is further survived by a large extended family.
Visitation will be on Saturday, July 24th from 9-11am at Buchanan Funeral Home, Kewaunee with a short service and interment at the Riverview Cemetery immediately following. The service will be live streamed at www.holyrsarykewaunee.com. Go to “Parish” and click on “watch this week’s Mass.
